sometimes i miss the days when all you needed was a good dance song. a reason to fake sick so you could stay home and learn Cold Hearted. To shake your ass to Vibeology or draw hearts on the borders of notebooks while listening to Rush Rush. to have a performer to look up to that you loved so much, thatyou wanted to be in her aura, to know everything about her, to know what she knew.the world is a lot different than it was back then. and when i first discovered her. but there's a part of me that will alwys know the lyrics to The Way that You Love Me and smile at my favorite parts of Under my Spell. (Spellbound, U, and Cold Hearted, for the record). as much as i love Alanis, Tori, and the like, there's only so much psychoanalzying you can do before your head hurts, so much baggage that comes with the fans stories. it's heavy. life is heavy. and to be able to remember a time when it just wasn't as hard can help a lot. whenever i have a dance show, i want to throw in Forever Your Girl, because there's nothing like that jumping around listening to State of Attraction. channeling that energy. remembering her smile. her geniune heart. i think she really loved people. she just wanted to share. and she does. i know people give her a lot of crap, but i mean, she doesn't deserve it, and she'll always be the better personn. and that' s admirable. the friends i met through her are amazing. i mean, the good days of American Idol Board, ALWAYS memorable. i can't even remember exactly how it used to be. but it was amazing. to had an online family...i've been on quite a few boards since then, but nothing is like that was. i adored it. i know we all did. and new people are coming in and having the same experience, and i'm not angry anymore. it helped me, and will help others. and i thank god that i had it as long as i did. Happy 44th birthday, Paula Abdul. hold the world in your hands. <3 |
